Description This beautiful poodle purse is lavishly covered in small black beads with the same beads strung in loops to create the ears, paws, tail, and top of the head.  The bag has a zipper on the poodle's back, opening from the neck to the tail.  There is a beaded tassle attached to the zipper.  The satin interior is also in excellent condition with the label "Walborg, Hand Made in Japan".  It measures 8" in height, 12" in length and is 4" wide.  I have examined the bag very carefully; there is not a single bead missing from what I can tell. Hilde Walborg Weinberg became very well know in the 1950's in New York and frequented many high-society events as a respected designer.  She founded her company in the late 1940's and designed all of her bags herself.  She had a Grand Opening for her showroom on Madision Avenue in 1954 covered in the society pages of the day.  In the 1960's many of her designs were being manufactured overseas in places like Hong Kong or China, prbably because demand was so high for her purses.  You will find many of her purses listed on eBay but I have found very few of her Poodle Purses available for sale.  My resent Google search only returned 1 other Walborg poodle purse available for sale so they must be rare and/or their owners are not parting with them.
