Description
SHIPPING FREE! ... WORLDWIDE! ... FREE SHIPPING!This is a really unique piece. I was told this is possibly French, and definitely dates to 1850-70, because after 1870, faceted steel tools went out of style. They were in all the lady's companions 1840-1860. This set is in a leather covered and brass studded purse with two chains that were used to carry it. It opens on beautifully pierced brass lock to reveal the gilded faceted steel sewing set which includes scissors, bodkin (needle case), thimble, and stiletto (or awl). On the opposite panel that opens, there is a velvet pincushion. The pin cushion is in fair shape. The purse is lined with a moire silk. Very pretty. The purse also opens on both sides with a snap open mechanism. One side probably contained a crochet set or a manicure set. The other side of the purse opens to reveal an accordion-type change purse. Overall, the purse measures almost 5" long. The leather is in very good condition. The structure is remarkably sturdy for its age. Someone took very good care of this. SHIPPING & PAYMENT FREE registered, insured, airmail to anywhere in the world. Payment by PAYPAL, US$ money order, or US$ personal check (requires 10 days to clear).
