Helen Bond Carruthers made some of the most sought after sweaters in the 50's, and they are just as coveted today, and in all my travels I've never been lucky enough to find one..until now (one more to come too!) Digital camera's have trouble with shades of red-so while it looks like a fire engine red in the photos, it is actually a stunning deep coral with more pink in it that the photos show....truly it'll take your breath away! GORGEOUS cashmere sweater in the richest shade of coral with beautiful floral appliques in white crochet or tatting (?)that look like trim that you'd see on Victorian whites...some with net over a shiny stiff ecru material, as shown-very, very striking in person! As with her sweaters, they are cropped at the cuffs and at the waist with wide band of grosgrain ribbon at the inside waist and white chiffon lining the body, and it closes with little crocheted buttons down the front for an extra touch of charm. This beauty has the 'Helen Bond Carruthers label at the waist with measurements as follows: 42 in. bust, 33 in. waist, 17 in. sleeves, total length of 17 in. from top of the shoulder to hem with 16 in. shoulder to shoulder seam. In excellent vintage condition-no stains, holes etc. I noted a few holes in the net of an applique, upon close inspection, but that is hardly an issue-if I didn't tell you, you'd never notice-and no one else will. Absolutely STUNNING in person...you've just gotta see it to believe it!
